What is PD Ports?

PD Ports is one of the UK’s major port groups, operating a series of well-connected ports along the East coast, unlocking key markets in the North, South, Midlands and Scotland and providing access to the hub ports of Europe and further afield. Head Office is in Teesport, Middlesborough, Teeside, though Tanks R Us deals with all of PD Ports’ ports around the UK.

What has Tanks R Us provided to PD Ports and what was it used for?

Tanks R Us rented out a 22,500 litre steel bunded horizontal diesel dispensing tank to PD Ports, for the purposes of storing fuel for use in the refuelling of cranes, fork lifts and boats. As part of the hire deal, a 230v E120 100lpm pump, 8m hose reel, auto shut off nozzle, filter, flow meter, Ocio electronic gauge with mains electrical connection panel were included. This hire allowed for the successful refuelling of many vehicles, allowing for timely, seamless and efficient processes across the various functions of the port.

How was the tank put on site at PD Ports?

Delivering and positioning of a tank couldn’t be simpler. In the case of PD Ports, the tank and associated gear, were delivered via Tanks R Us’s Hi-Ab crane lorry, and lifted into position on the port.

How did the pricing work?

Tanks R Us required four weeks of payment upfront, plus a delivery / collection fee. The hire deal then sat on monthly 4 week rolling invoice contract. PD Ports leased the tank and associated fixtures for approximately six months – and then bought it! Tanks R Us offers the option to buy the tank etc during the term of the hire contract.

What are the main reasons to consider fuel tank hire?

Warmth: Sometimes it is necessary to keep a property heated all around the clock, and this could even be for weeks or months at a time. In these circumstances it might not make financial sense – or practical sense – to buy a tank when hiring one for the duration of your need will be adequate. It could be that you need a short-term solution to cover an immediate fuel storage demand - perhaps there has been a tank failure.
